Roma sporting director Gianluca Petrachi suggested in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia that the Giallorossi could still sign Inter forward Matteo Politano, but without including Leonardo Spinazzola in the deal.

“I believe that common sense must always prevail.” Petrachi said before the 3-1 win at Genoa.

“Those in the transfer market know that certain things can happen. When people give their word, the operation is considered to be closed. We needed Politano and Fonseca’s words testify to that.”

Petrachi revealed that the Roman club would still be happy to sign Politano from the Nerazzurri.

“We’ll look for a forward and if Inter want to loan Politano to Roma and allow Politano to play, we’ll listen.

“The player is owned by Inter, he could become a Roma player if we redeem him and we have to remember that we always talk about human beings and we have to do their good too.

“We’re sorry Politano had a promise broken, but these disputes happen in the transfer market.”
