Newcastle are facing competition from German side RB Leipzig for Inter midfielder Valentino Lazaro, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the German newspaper Bild.
The report details how the 23-year-old Austrian, who joined the Nerazzurri from Hertha Berlin in the summer, has struggled to adapt to the tactical system of coach Antonio Conte.
Due to his unconvincing performances so far this season, the player seems destined to be sold by Inter this month.
Newcastle met with Lazaro’s agent yesterday in England to discuss a possible deal, the report continues. However, the English club are now facing competition from RB Leipzig for his signature.
The German club have contracted Inter to register their interest, which is not a surprise considering they were also one of the club’s chasing Lazaro’s signature last summer.
Lazaro has made 11 appearances across all competitions for the Nerazzurri so far this season for a total of 513 minutes. In that time he has provided two assists.
