Inter assistant manager Cristian Stellini spoke with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia to share his thoughts and feelings following on from Inter’s 1-1 draw at home to Cagliari.
“Conte really struggled to find the energy to talk to the team at half time, he was not well and he left quickly after the match finished,” he began.
“We have to stay focused on games, Cagliari managed to comeback and we were not very good at taking our chances. We do not have to become overwhelmed as after this game there are many others still to be played.
“Maybe in today’s game the referee was not too good at keeping the calm and alleviating the tension. Maybe they should change the parameters of how they conduct the games in order to keep everyone calm. We finished the game with four yellow cards which was excessive.
“There were some instances where there were no fouls given in our favour such as the fouls on Ashley Young and Alessandro Bastoni.
“There is work to be done, we know that and we are working on it. This situation must not be repeated in the future. It is important for us to kill off games and today we had plenty chances to do that.”
He then went on to discuss Young’s debut for Inter, which saw him assist the team’s only goal of the game.
“It was a good debut. We knew he was healthy and we are counting on his performances to get better as the games pass by.”
Asked about Christian Eriksen, Stellini stated: “I do not deal with the transfer market, I only deal with the work on the pitch.”
In conclusion, he said: “From tomorrow, we will start preparing for our Coppa Italia match. It is fundamental to always think about tomorrow and the next game and learn from the past.”
