Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed Inter will not try and sign a striker, moments ago live on air.

Inter have reportedly shown an interest in signing Napoli’s Fernando Llorente, Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud, Leicester City’s Islam Slimani and most recently Sassuolo’s Alessandro Matri but have abandoned the idea of adding another striker to their ranks before the transfer window slams shut in the coming days.

As per Di Marzio’s report, Inter no longer believe that a move for Giroud is viable, this despite multiple reports in recent weeks suggesting terms have already been agreed both with the club and player.

Di Marzio also says that this is what Inter are thinking for the moment but that could change if a better deal can be found but on the current terms, they are unwilling to sign the 33-year-old French international.

Inter have asked Giroud to wait until the Summer to join the club as he can then arrive on a free transfer but Inter face competition from Tottenham Hotspur who have offered him an 18 month deal.

The report goes on to conclude that teen sensation Sebastiano Esposito is going nowhere, despite some interest from elsewhere in the past few days.
