This Summer’s European Championship’s could be pushed back to next Summer to help European leagues complete their seasons according to a report in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

Leagues across the continent have been put on hold as a result of the ongoing global Coronavirus pandemic and as per the report, UEFA’s 55 member associations are in agreement that they want the tournament moved to next Summer so they can finish their seasons this Summer.

The report from the Milan based newspaper goes on to state that if EURO 2020 is moved, it will be very helpful for Serie A.

By starting the season up again at the start of May and extending the season until the end of the June, there will be 17 dates available for games to be played on meaning there is no shortage of dates given no teams need to play any more than 13 games.

This will also leave four dates available for European competitions to be completed with the report stating that rather than being played across two legs, games could be made into one-off matches.
