Inter Milan defender Francesco Acerbi reveals he’s been dealing with a groin injury as of late, while expressing his great attachment to the club.

The 36-year-old has been one of the most reliable defenders at Simone Inzaghi’s court since joining the club in 2022.

The veteran initially completed a loan move from Lazio before earning a permanent switch last summer. His contract with the club is valid until 2025.

The Italian was also a main protagonist in Inter’s historic victory in the Derby della Madonnina on Monday. Acerbi nodded home the opener to put the team on track to a victory which yielded the Serie A title, as well as the club’s second star.

However, he has now revealed that he’s been suffering from groin pain recently. Nevertheless, he has been hellbent on overcoming it to offer his contribution to the cause.

“My priority has always been to give my all for the Inter jersey,” posted the Italy international on his Instagram account.

“This is why in recent months I have played while gritting my teeth despite the groin pain.

“Now, with these two stars sewn on the chest, I have time to recover. I’m looking to be 100% fit for the next commitments.”

Inter Milan Defender Francesco Acerbi Has Been Carrying A Groin Injury

This season, Acerbi has been a regular starter for Simone Inzaghi, often playing at the heart of the backline. He made 36 appearances, contributing with three goals and two assists.

The former AC Milan, Sassuolo and Lazio star will also be aiming to recover his optimal condition ahead of the Euro 2024.

While the Italian national team decided to send him home due to Juan Jesus’ allegations of racial abuse back in March, Acerbi will be hoping to return to the fold now that the court found him not guilty.
