The chances of Joao Mario returning to Inter at the end of the season are growing according to a report from CalcioMercato.com.

The Portuguese national team midfielder was ousted from the club’s project this past Summer and was sent out on loan to Russian Premier League side Lokomotiv Moscow, who have an option to sign him up on a permanent basis for a sum of €18 million.

Bosses of the Russian club have been impressed with what the former Sporting player has offered the club during his time with them so far but have concerns about whether or not they will be able to afford him especially if they do not qualify for the Champions League.

In addition to those concerns, Russian teams will only be able to have eight foreign players in their squad meaning they need to cut three of the 11 they currently have meaning club management have some tough decisions to make with regard to foreign players.

This season the 27-year-old has one goal and four assists in 15 appearances across all competitions for Lokomotiv.
