Inter, specifically club chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta, has knocked back the opportunity to sign Mario Gotze in the upcoming Summer transfer window according to a report from CalcioMercato.com.

The report explains that Inter were offered the chance to sign the Borussia Dortmund player, whose contract expires at the end of this season, but Marotta turned it down due to having no interest in the 27-year-old.

Gotze is currently in his second spell with the Bundesliga outfit but looks set to move on to pastures new in the coming months with it appearing that no contract extension will come.

The 2011 Golden Boy award winner was one of the brightest talents on the planet when he initially broke through but injuries coupled with a poor spell at Bayern Munich have seen his stock drop in recent seasons.

This season he has made 19 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored three goals and provided one assist.
