Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign Inter centre back Diego Godin according to a report from British news outlet The Daily Mirror.

Spurs are looking to transform their defence with centre back Jan Vertonghen potentially leaving and Jose Mourinho has singled out Godin as a player he would like added to his side due to his experience and leadership qualities.

Godin joined Inter this past Summer on a free transfer after his contract with Atletico Madrid came to an end but he has failed to live up to expectations and has visibly struggled at times thus meaning he may leave the club for pastures new in the coming months.

Spurs are not the only Premier League club to have shown an interest in signing the Uruguayan veteran with it understood that Manchester United are also keen on him.

This season the 34-year-old has made 25 appearances across all competitions in which he has provided a single assist.
