Sporting are in the process of tying goalkeeper Luis Maximiano down to a new and improved contract according to a report in today’s print edition of Portuguese newspaper Record.
In the past few weeks the young shot-stopper has drawn links to both Inter and AC Milan but Sporting are reluctant to let him go and are working on giving him a new contract in a bid to deter interest shown in him.
The 21-year-old has had his breakthrough season with the club this term and has been their starting goalkeeper since around November time.
He is currently already under contract with the club until the end of the 2022/23 season and the new contract will see his current annual salary quadrupled according to the report.
It goes on to add that the €45 million release clause in his current deal will also be increased up to €60 million.
This season Maximiano has made 23 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has kept a total of seven clean sheets.
