Former Inter defender Hugo Campagnaro has announced that he will retire at the end of this season, whenever that may be.
The 39-year-old, who has made 17 appearances for the Argentine national team, is currently on the books of Serie B side Pescara and will hang up his boots after a 22 year senior career in the coming months.
“The time has come to say enough. I am satisfied with my career but now I have to think about the future. My family and I will stay in Pescara, regardless of my job but before hanging up my boots I will have to complete the season and give a hand to Pescara,” Campagnaro remarked in an interview with Italian newspaper Il Centro.
“Personally I can’t wait to play again, I really want to end the season and my career well.”
Campagnaro began his senior career with Deportivo Moron in the lower leagues of Argentina back in 1998 and moved to Italy in 2002 when he joined Piacenza.
He spent five years with I Lupi before joining Sampdoria, where he spent two years which was followed with a four year spell at Napoli.
He joined Inter in the Summer of 2013 and spent two years with the club before joining his current employers. During his two years with Inter he made 39 appearances across all competitions, in which he provided two assists for his teammates.
