AZ Alkmaar midfielder and club captain Teun Koopmeiners agent Michael Janssen has confirmed that whilst his client has been linked with moves to Italy lately, there are currently no negotiations going on.

The former Dutch under 21 national team player is amongst the Netherlands brightest prospects at the moment and is part of a very exciting young AZ Alkmaar team that also includes the likes of Myron Boadu and Calvin Stengs.

“For months in Italy Koopmeiners has been linked with various clubs, not only Napoli but also Inter. At the moment, however, there is absolutely nothing. Signing one of the best Dutch players is not a low cost operation,” Janssen explained in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Marte late last night.

Koopmeiners is a product of AZ Alkamaar’s academy and has a contract with the Eredivisie side through to the end of the 2022/23 season.

This season Koopmeiners, who can also play as a centre back, has been virtually ever present with him having made 42 appearances across all competitions and played all barring 34 minutes of AZ Alkmaar’s season.

In 3777 minutes on the field, Koopmeiners has scored 16 goals and provided a total of three assists for his teammates.
