In an interview with Italian daily newspaper Corriere di Brescia, legendary former Inter striker Alessandro Altobelli has reflected on his time with Inter.
“In these days the champions of the treble are being celebrated, the Nerazzurri fans hold me at the same level as them,” he began the interview which appeared in yesterday’s print edition of the Brescia based news outlet.
He then spoke on two of the striker partners that he had during his time at Inter, Evaristo Beccalossi and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge.
“With Beccalossi I had a unique partnership whilst Rummenigge is the best striker I have partnered with.”
He concluded the interview by adding: “Everyone remembers me for the 1982 World Cup, but at Inter I showed what I was worth.”
Altobelli joined Inter in the Summer of 1977 from Brescia and spent the next 11 and undoubtedly best years of his career on the club’s books before departing for arch rivals Juventus.
The former Italian national team striker is second only to the legendary Giuseppe Meazza in Inter’s all time top goalscorers list with him having scored no less than 209 goals across all competitions during his time with the club.
Altobelli also won a single Serie A title whilst at Inter as well as two Coppa Italia.
