Arsenal have not lost hope of signing club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to a new contract according to a report from the online edition of British news outlet The Telegraph.

The Gabon national team striker’s contract with the club is due to expire at the end of next season and the Gunners hope that their relationship with his father could help a contract extension to be reached.

Aubameyang has been linked with Inter, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona ahead of him entering into the final year of his current contract with the club.

It has been widely reported that the former Borussia Dortmund player wants to play in the Champions League, a competition Arsenal have not played in for three years and are at risk of missing out on for a fourth straight year.

This season Aubameyang has made 32 appearances across all competitions to date in which he has scored 20 goals and provided a single assist for his teammates.
