Edinson Cavani does not wish to drop his contract demands according to a report from the online edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Uruguayan national team striker is set to become a free agent with his Paris Saint-Germain contract just weeks away from expiring and he has drawn links to a number of clubs.

Inter have shown an interest in signing him to bolster their options but simply cannot afford to meet the 33-year-old’s salary demands of €12 million a year.

Inter do not want to go above €7.5 million a year plus add-ons and as time passes the chances of Cavani ending up at Inter are decreasing.

Cavani, who has also drawn strong links to Spanish giants Atletico Madrid, has made 22 appearances across all competitions to date this term.

In his time on the field, the former Napoli player has scored seven goals and provided three assists for his teammates.
