Inter have accelerated in the race to sign French defender Malang Sarr, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.

The report details how the Nerazzurri have sped up in the talks to sign the 21-year-old French centre back, who is contracted to Nice until the end of June. Sarr has long been followed by the Milanese club, as they consider him the ideal player for coach Antonio Conte and his tactical system, considering that the player is left-footed and can play in a back three.

Inter would look to sign Sarr as a free agent after his contract expires with Nice, the report continues, a bargain considering that the player is worth around €20-25 million. The Milanese club have moved away from signing Jan Vertonghen, considering his age, high wages and no chance of a future sale.

The Nerazzurri still intend to sign Marash Kumbulla, the report highlights, and they will leave him in Verona for another year to mature and play more regularly. Lyon were interested in Diego Godin, but the Uruguayan’s wages are too high for the French club.
