Inter forward Alexis Sanchez could replace Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez in the Nerazzurri starting 11 for their game against Sampdoria next weekend, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Rome based newspaper Il Messaggero.

The report details how the 22-year-old Argentine forward, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, disappointed against Napoli last night in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-finals, being invisible for the whole game before being replaced by the 31-year-old Sanchez in the closing stages of the game.

The former Arsenal forward instantly had more of an impact than Lautaro, with some suggesting that the Argentine’s head has been turned by Barcelona’s interest.

Sanchez could start alongside former Manchester United teammate Romelu Lukaku, the report continues, with Lautaro being relegated to the bench. The Nerazzurri are interested in keeping the 31-year-old Chilean for another season on loan, especially important if the 22-year-old Argentine forward is sold to Barcelona in the summer.
