Inter president Steven Zhang is studying ways in which San Siro could be made to feel more like normal whilst games must be played behind closed doors due to restrictions imposed following the outbreak of COVID-19, according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

According to the report, the Nerazzurri supremo is looking at long term ways to improve the experience for TV viewers given that the restrictions are likely to be in place for the foreseeable future.

As per the report, Zhang is considering the possibility of projecting using LEDs and virtual images which will be projected onto the stands to give the impression of a fuller stadium when in all reality there will only be a few hundred people present in the stadium, including the teams.

Leagues elsewhere in Europe that have already restarted, including both the Bundesliga and Premier League, have used artificial crowd noises when broadcasting matches and it is presently unclear whether this is something that will be used for Serie A matches too.
