Mario Mandzukic is not Inter’s first option when it comes to finding a back-up for Romelu Lukaku according to a report from Italian news outlet CalcioMercato.com.

The Croatian national team striker recently became a free agent after he terminated his contract with Qatar Stars League side Al Duhail.

Inter have shown an interest in the experienced 34-year-old but the report explains that Inter manager Antonio Conte currently prefers both Roma captain Edin Dzeko and Chelsea’s Olivier Giroud to him.

For the time being Inter have not made any move for Mandzukic and the report explains that they will make more in-depth assessments when it comes to the attack come August.

Mandzukic, who has also been linked to Fiorentina, is no stranger to Italian football having previously played for Inter’s arch rivals Juventus. Whilst at the Bianconeri he made 162 appearances across all competitions, in which he scored 44 goals and provided 18 assists for his teammates.
