Inter have confirmed that midfielder Matias Vecino is set to go under the knife tomorrow due to a knee injury which has been bothering him for some time via an official statement on the club website.

The Uruguayan national team player has featured just twice for Inter since the 2019/20 season got back underway last month but he only managed 22 minutes between those appearances.

He missed Inter’s first four matches back due to a meniscus injury, he then featured against Bologna and Hellas Verona but has missed Inter’s past three matches against Torino, SPAL and Roma with a knee injury.

Inter have confirmed that the player will travel to Barcelona, Spain, tomorrow to be operated on by Professor Ramon Cugat.

Although the club have not provided a timetable for a return, it can be presumed that Vecino’s season will be over.

This season the 28-year-old has made 25 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored three goals and provided one assist.
