Inter manager Antonio Conte is aiming to secure a second placed finish in Serie A this season according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

A second place finish will see Inter get a sum of €26 million, which is €10 million more than they would get if they were to finish in fourth place.

On top of targeting a second place finish, the former Italian national team boss is looking to surpass 76 points, something Inter have not done since the historic treble season a decade ago.

Once the Serie A season is over, Conte will shift his attention toward the Europa League. Inter are due to face Getafe in a one off match on August 5 and the winner will progress to the quarter finals where they will face either Bayer Leverkusen or Rangers.

The report goes on to conclude that Conte will grant Christian Eriksen just his second start in the last five games in tonight’s clash against Fiorentina. Conte has not played Eriksen as much as expected but the feeling is that the future tactical project Conte has in mind will involve the Dane.
