Atalanta will have to do without Jose Luis Palomino in this coming weekend’s Serie A season finale at home to Inter according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 30-year-old Argentine central defender picked up a thigh injury in Atalanta’s most recent match against Parma and will miss the match against Inter as a result.
The report stresses that whilst Palomino’s injury is not serious, Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini does not want to take any chances seeing as Atalanta are to soon face Paris Saint-Germain.
This season the former Ludogorets defender has made 37 appearances across all competitions to date. In his time on the park, which totals just over 3000 minutes, he has scored two goals, provided a single assist and helped Atalanta to keep 11 clean sheets.
Palomino is certain to miss out and it also appears as good as certain that key player Josip Ilicic will also be absent for the Bergamo based club.
