Barcelona are set to overhaul both the squad and the backroom staff in an attempt to change the club’s fortunes and keep star Lionel Messi happy, according to a report from Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo earlier today.

The report details how the Blaugrana are already looking for a new head coach to replace Quique Setien, with options including Ronald Koeman, Xavi and Mauricio Pochettino.

Older players in the squad from Gerard Piqué to Luis Suarez through to Arturo Vidal, Ivan Rakitic, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba are all at risk of being sent away by the Catalan side.

Some have impressed enough since the restart to confirm their spots, including Marc-André ter Stegen, Ansu fati, Riqui Puig and Frenkie de Jong.

Separate talks will be needed with Messi, the report continues, as the star’s contract expires with the Blaugrana at the end of next season. Barcelona are confident that he’ll stay and will look to impress him with their overhaul, although Inter are patiently waiting and monitoring the situation.
