The future of Inter coach Antonio Conte will be known by the end of the month, with his meeting with the club’s management on Tuesday next week a decisive moment, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper la Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the Nerazzurri aren’t looking to dismiss the 51-year-old Italian coach, despite his outbursts in the media and complaints about transfer objectives, although economically the idea also wouldn’t make sense. Conte is contracted to the club with his staff at around €13.5 million net for another two years and so firing him outright would be a very expensive decision.

Next week’s meeting will shape Conte’s future with the club, the report continues, and there will either be an agreement between the two parties or the 51-year-old Italian will resign, with a legal trial unlikely. Should Conte leave, Massimiliano Allegri remains the favourite to take over the role, although the Milanese side are also considering Sinisa Mihajlovic. A decision will need to be made in the next 15 days, before the squad return to training.

Conte’s reasons for leaving would be because he has never felt protected in the media, the report highlights, and isn’t close to either CEO Beppe Marotta or sporting director Piero Ausilio. The club don’t believe there is a management issue and think the real issue is the transfer market ideas.
