Manchester United are ahead in the race to sign Inter defender Milan Skriniar, according to a report from Italian media outlet Calciomercato.com earlier today.

The report details how the 25-year-old Slovakian defender struggled to adapt to coach Antonio Conte’s tactical system this season and was even dropped in favour of Uruguayan veteran Diego Godin often after the season restart. Last summer the Milanese club wanted €70 million for the former Sampdoria man, but now prices will be understandably lower.

Manchester United lead the race to sign Skriniar, the report continues, and relations between the two clubs are strong after recent successful business. There are also ongoing talks with Tottenham, as the Nerazzurri are interested in exchanging the 25-year-old for French midfielder Tanguy Ndombélé. Paris Saint-Germain are watching the situation closely as they are also interested in Skriniar as a replacement for Thiago Silva, who joined Chelsea yesterday on a free transfer.
