Former Inter striker Aldo Serena has revealed a funny anecdote relating to his transfer from Inter to arch rivals Juventus in the Summer of 1985.

Serena joined Inter in 1978 from Montebelluna and spent seven years with the club before leaving for Juventus, the majority of which he spent out on loan with him having loan spells at Como, Bari, AC Milan and Torino.

After two years with Juventus he returned to Inter in 1987 and would have a further four year spell in the black and blue jersey and things went much better for him than they did during his first spell at the club.

All in all Serena made a total of 223 appearances across all competitions for Inter, in which he scored 78 goals and provided 11 assists for his teammates.

A curious fan took to Twitter and asked Serena whether it was true that when then Inter president Ernesto Pellegrini called him to talk about Juventus, he delayed talking to him as he was going to a Bruce Springsteen concert at San Siro.

Serena responded with: “He called me for dinner on 21/06/85 to talk about it, the terms expired two days later. I told him it wasn’t possible, I had to go to the concert. He told me we absolutely had to meet. I went at 12:30 all sweaty. I missed the final three encores. Damn.”
