Former Lazio and Italian national team goalkeeper Luca Marchegiani has shared his belief that Inter’s chances of having success are increasing with thanks to their transfer market business, especially the acquistion of Arturo Vidal.

After a long courtship, Inter finally got their hands on Vidal and completed the signing of the experienced Chilean national team player from Barcelona yesterday.

Vidal is widely reported to have signed a two year deal with an option to a third year with Inter where he has been reunited with former manager Antonio Conte, who arguably had him playing the best football of his career when they worked together at Inter’s arch rivals Juventus.

“In Conte’s Juve Vidal represented more than a midfielder of temperament and strength. I don’t know if he ever had the same importance at Barcelona as he had at Juventus.

“He was fundamental at Juventus, he conveyed the ideas of Conte on the pitch, just a glance with him was enough,” he explained whilst present in the studios of Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, yesterday afternoon.

Marchegiani then went on to speak about the players that Conte needs to have in his team at Inter.

“Conte needs players who bring his thoughts onto the pitch. Changes are needed, a player must also accept to take over. Eriksen’s situation is more complicated than the others. He requires a certain type of play that in my opinion.”

He concluded by sharing what he thinks Inter are doing with the signings they have made: “I am convinced that Inter are creating themselves in the image of their coach. The chances of winning are increasing, as is the sense of responsibility.”
