Chris Smalling is Inter’s number one target to replace Milan Skriniar if he goes on to leave the club according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere della Sera.

Whilst there is a distance of €30 million between Inter and Tottenham Hotspur’s respective evaluations of Skriniar, the parties seem to be getting closer with Inter said to be willing to reduce their €60 million demands if the transfer is done on a permanent basis right away.

The report goes on to explain that Manchester United’s Smalling, who spent last season on loan at Serie A club Roma, is valued at just €15 million, which is significantly less than Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic, who has been identified as another possible replacement. La Viola value the Serbian at €40 million.

The Milan based news outlet also state that Chelsea and Germany defender Antonio Rudiger is another potential replacement that Inter have in mind.
