Inter are likely to sign a low-cost replacement for defender Milan Skriniar so they can focus on signing Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.

The report details how the Nerazzurri are in talks with Tottenham regarding a possible deal for the 25-year-old Slovakian defender.

Inter want around €50 million for Skriniar, but so far Spurs have only offered around €35 million, with a higher offer expected on Monday.

Should the deal be completed, the Milanese club will not look to reinvest the funds into a new defender, the report continues, and instead will look for a low-cost option like Manchester United’s Chris Smalling.

The remainder of the money, as well as the proceeds from a possible sale of Marcelo Brozovic, would be used to finance the signing of Chelsea’s Kante, coach Antonio Conte’s top transfer target.

Blues coach Frank Lampard has made it clear that the player is no longer considered unsellable.
