Atalanta could move to bring Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini back to the club according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Eco di Bergamo.

The Bergamo based club are looking to find themselves an alternative to Remo Freuler and Marteen de Roon in the middle of the park and Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini rates the Italian highly.

Bringing Gagliardini back would not just give Atalanta a hand in the middle of the park but also when it comes to meeting UEFA squad requirements seeing as he is a homegrown player.

Atalanta could possibly do a deal similar to the one that enabled them to bring Mattia Caldara back to the club from AC Milan but the report from the Bergamo based news outlet insists that Inter manager Antonio Conte relies heavily on him so it is difficult to imagine a departure.

Since joining Inter, Gagliardini has scored 11 goals and tallied four assists in 104 appearances across all competitions.
