Marco Tronchetti Provera, the chief executive and executive vice chairman of Inter’s long term shirt sponsors Pirelli, has shared his belief that Inter have what it takes to win the Serie A title but first spoke on Inter’s 4-3 win in Saturday’s season opener against Fiorentina.

“There was commitment until the last minute, it is a team with many experiments and no longer such a surprise, as there is a deeper bench that gives more opportunities for competitiveness,” he explained in an interview with Italian radio station GR Parlamento show ‘La Politica nel Pallone’, earlier on today.

He then went on to state “Inter and Pirelli will continue in some way,” and then discussed the current state of the Inter team.

“The team this year is strong, Sensi has recovered, the attackers have grown whilst Sanchez is there and he is creative and helps the strikers. Even in defense there are alternatives.”

Tronchetti Provera, who has been involved with Pirelli since 1986, was then asked what he makes about the crazy side of Inter, that is all too often on show.

“I do not mind that this Inter is a bit crazy. I understand that it is not the case for a coach because the constant stress is not ideal, but for us spectators this keeps us even more tied to the team.”

Next he spoke on the recent media speculation that linked Inter with a move to sign Barcelona and Argentine superstar Lionel Messi.

“Conte has all the necessary experience and knows more than anyone else that the league is won with a strong defence. Messi? He is a dream that seems to have drifted away, but never say never.”

In conclusion Tronchetti Provera discussed the more recent speculation linking Inter with moving for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante.

“He would complete the build-up phase of the game and give support to the strikers, who are formidable and I am convinced that Inter will play until the end for the title and have the team and club structure to win it.”
