Inter target Manuel Locatelli discussed the interest in him and whether he’ll stay with Sassuolo in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia after the Neroverdi’s 4-1 win over newly promoted side Crotone.

“The interest of other teams pushes me to do even more. I was previously in the newspapers but I was not mature enough then.

“Now I am and I work every day with a different awareness. I am happy to stay with Sassuolo for the coach and because we can have a great year.”

The 22-year-old Italian midfielder, who is contracted to the Neroverdi until 2023, has attracted the attention of Inter, as the Nerazzurri are looking to strengthen their midfield and provide coach Antonio Conte with the right players.

Locatelli scored in Sassuolo’s 4-1 win over Crotone earlier today, his first goal of the season. The player has played every minute in the Neroverdi’s opening three games of the season.

Last season, the 22-year-old Italian midfielder made 34 appearances across all competitions for Sassuolo, for a total of 2671 minutes. In that time, he provided four assists from his role as a defensive midfielder.

The Neroverdi are not keen to lose Locatelli, with executive Giovanni Carnevali stressing the importance of keeping the club’s stars to the media recently.
