Benevento captain Christian Maggio has shared his belief that everything that could have went wrong for he and his teammates in their recent match with Inter, did go wrong.

Benevento played host to Inter on September 30 at the Stadio Ciro Vigorito and the newly promoted side, who won Serie B with ease last season, were well beaten as Antonio Conte’s Inter smashed them 5-2.

It took Inter just 30 seconds after kick off to score their first goal of the game and by the half time interval Inter had a 4-1 lead. The second half did not see quite as much action as Inter took their feet of the gas having already put the game out of sight in the first half.

“No one expected for them to score a goal after just a few seconds. Our plans failed then I got injured. We try to put the big teams in difficulty but that evening everything went wrong for us,” Maggio explained in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli a short time ago.

The veteran former Napoli player concluded the interview by speaking on the impression that Inter have made on him at this early stage of this season.

“The most shocking thing about Inter is their bench. They have an important squad and the coach is one of the best around. They have young and experienced players and Inter can do well this year.”
