Inter have a squad that allows for tactical flexibility but the man in charge, Antonio Conte, isn’t tactically flexible according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper La Repubblica.

Conte is well known for his 3-5-2 system but a change in system could allow him to get the best out of some players. One such player is struggling attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen.

In order for Conte to get the best out of Eriksen, he would have to change his system to a 4-3-1-2 and take Ivan Perisic, who has been utilised as a left wing-back this term, out of the side.

Had the 4-3-1-2 been used in derby, Aleksandar Kolarov, who was at fault for both goals, would’ve been less exposed but the returns of Alessandro Bastoni and Milan Skriniar will have things back how Conte wants them.

The report then goes on to take a look at Inter’s Champions League group. Inter’s Champions League group is toughest with them due to face Real Madrid, Borussia Monchengladbach and Shakhtar Donetsk although Real Madrid aren’t out of reach as evidenced by their recent defeat to a newly promoted side. Inter must win on match day one to avoid playing catch-up like they did last year.
