Inter manager Antonio Conte has admitted that he is satisfied with the team’s performance off the back of the goalless draw with Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League group stage.

Inter had lots of chances to break the deadlock in the Ukrainian capital city but ultimately failed to capitalise on the many chances they had.

“I think we must be satisfied with the team’s performance, with what we are doing on the pitch, the team want to play football, press the opposition and want to be alive,” he explained to the gathered media at his post-match press conference following the full time whistle at the Kyiv Olympic Stadium.

“We are working hard on the discourse of changing mentality, of playing the same game regardless of the opponent.

“Clearly we regret the draw because we have used up a lot of energy, we are doing very well. We must continue, starting on Saturday against Parma and then prepare for the match against Real Madrid.”

The 51-year-old tactician then went on to speak about Shakhtar Donetsk’s defensive display and his desire to see the team rewarded for their performances.

“Despite their very impressive defensive play we have created important chances to score goals, at the same time we have suffered very little but we would like to be rewarded with the results.”

In conclusion the former Juventus and Italian national team boss was asked whether he thinks the group are in is both a balanced and tough group.

“I believe that ours is a very strong and balanced group. It can happen that Shakhtar win against Real Madrid, Borussia are a very solid team, so I think this is the absolute best group.”

Conte is into his second year in charge of Inter and the match against Shakhtar Donetsk was his 60th game across all competitions in charge of the club, of which he has led Inter to victory in 35 of these games.
