Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro has stressed that he and his Real Madrid teammates are well aware that they find themselves in a difficult group in the Champions League ahead of their match with Inter.

Real Madrid head into this match sitting in third place in group B and will be taking on Inter, who are currently sitting bottom of the group after the first three group stage games.

“We know that we are in a difficult group. Shakhtar have high quality Brazilian players. Borussia have done well in Germany and Inter are a great team, with a strong tradition and a coach who has clear ideas,” he explained in an interview with European football’s governing body UEFA, as quoted by Italian news outlet FCInterNews.it.

The Brazilian national team player then went on to reflect on the reverse fixture with Inter, which they managed to win 3-2. He also touched upon Los Blancos’ goals for the remainder of the group stage.

“We knew it wasn’t going to be an easy match, but we were mentally strong and focused on winning then Rodrygo scored the decisive goal.

“The mental work and the concentration we maintained during the match were very important. We are aware that there’s still a long way to go, but that win was very important.

“We want to finish first. there is still a chance and it is up to us. We have already played a great match against Inter, so we can only grow in this competition.”

Casemiro then spoke on Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos, who will be missing tomorrow night’s match due to a hamstring problem that he picked up whilst representing the Spanish national team recently.

“Sergio is a leader in the locker room and on the pitch. It is a pleasure to share all these years with him. What he is doing now is writing his name in the history books of the club.

He is a player who never gives up, who always wants to fight and always wants to win. He pushes the team to do better, he is a leader and a model for us.

“The other day he scored his 100th goal for Real Madrid and we must to congratulate him, but for those of us who are with him every day it is no surprise given how hard he works.

“Scoring so many important goals in the difficult situations we have faced is the key to everything. This is his personality. He is 34-years-old and he still wants to improve, learn and work hard.”
