Ashley Young has fought off competition from Ivan Perisic and will keep his place in the Inter starting line-up for tonight’s UEFA Champions League group stage match at home to Real Madrid according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

Despite the far from fantastic performance in this past weekend’s 4-2 Serie A win over Torino, Young will continue to start at left wing-back in Inter manager Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 system.

The veteran Englishman, who joined Inter for a nominal fee from Manchester United back in January, is therefore set to make his ninth appearance of this season and 34th overall for the club. In his time with the club he has scored four goals and tallied seven assists.

The report from the Turin based news outlet goes on to add that Conte will start with a front two of Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez whilst Alexis Sanchez will start on the bench.
