Former Inter forward Alessandro Altobelli discussed his goals for the Nerazzurri and players who are similar to him in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV earlier today, before Inter’s win over Sassuolo.

“All those goals I scored are always in my heart. I was born an Interista and I will die an Interista. For a striker the goal is the final result of a week of training where all the players, the whole team, participate.

“When I score a goal, the merit must be shared among all. There is no good or bad, I have them all in my heart. I scored them thinking about scoring and not by luck.”

The 64-year-old Italian, who also played for Brescia and Juventus in his career, then spoke about which players currently resemble his style on the pitch.

“I do not like to make comparisons. Inter has had great strikers. Before me Boninsegna. then Ronaldo, Lukaku, Recoba, Milito, Lautaro.

“Inter had the greatest strikers who arrived in Italy. Each one has their own characteristics and has done a lot for Inter.”

Inter are currently second in the Serie A table after nine games, sitting on 18 points, tied with today’s opponents Sassuolo.

The Milanese club’s next game is against German side Borussia Monchengladbach in a vital Champions League clash next week, a must win game if Antonio Conte’s side want to progress to the next round of the competition.

So far this season, Inter have failed to win a single game in Europe, drawing twice and losing twice, leaving them bottom of their group with only two points.

The Milanese club’s next league game is against Bologna next weekend.
