Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio discussed the current position of the Nerazzurri and their thoughts towards the January transfer window in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia before the match against Spezia.

“Now there are two very important games, then we’ll have time to take stock of the situation. It’s still the case that we’re together every day at the Pinetina. We’ll talk about the market during the Christmas break.”

He commented on the situation surrounding 32-year-old Belgian midfielder Radja Nainggolan, who has hardly featured under coach Antonio Conte this campaign.

“We’ll see. We’ve spoken to him, even recently. Apart from a few injuries, the player has been an exemplary professional. He’s doing well.

“We’ve tried to understand what his needs are, it’s normal that he wants to find more playing time. We don’t give anything to anyone, that must be clear. But if we can satisfy him, we will.”

The Nerazzurri sporting director spoke about his relationship with AC Milan director of football Federic Massara.

“He is one of the best. Serious and competent. There is friendship, but we talk little about the market, between Inter and Milan there is little we can do, we have tried in the past.

“Would I like to steal someone from him? He knows who he is!”

Finally, Ausilio spoke about if the Nerazzurri would look to sign Atalanta talisman Alejandro ‘Papu’ Gomez, who is set to leave the Bergamo based club next month.

“I don’t know, I would avoid putting myself in other people’s problems. We have followed the situation, but also Atalanta are our friends.

“The esteem and consideration is there for Gomez as it is for everyone, but I avoid getting involved in other people’s problems. Atalanta have many good players.”

The 32-year-old Gomez, who is contracted to Atalanta until 2022, has made 16 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1122 minutes.

In that time, he has scored five goals and provided four assists.

The talismanic Argentinian has suffered a complete relationship breakdown with coach Gian Piero Gasperini and is set to leave the club next month, unable to continue with the Italian coach.
