Reported Inter target Georginio Wijnaldum has rejected a new deal at Liverpool and will leave the Premier League giants on a free transfer at the end of the season, according to a Spanish media report.

TodoFichajes.com stated today that the Dutchman has decided to find a new challenge and wants to join up with countryman Ronald Koeman at Barcelona.

Reports in recent weeks had linked Wijnaldum with a move to Inter next summer, but it seems the 30-year-old has his heart set on a move to La Liga instead.

Wijnaldum, who started his career at Feyenoord, has been with Liverpool since 2016 and he has been virtually ever present in Jurgen Klopp’s side this season.

In 24 appearances across all competitions and in just over 1800 minutes in total on the field, he has contributed a single goal, with that goal coming in the Reds’ 4-0 rout of Wolverhampton Wanderers in December.

Wijnaldum has made 210 appearances in total for the club, scoring 20 goals and providing 16 assists.

He was a key figure in the side that last season secured Liverpool’s first Premier League title for 30 years.
