Atalanta are refusing to budge from their asking price for club captain Papu Gomez, according to an Italian media report today.

As per Gazzetta dello Sport‘s online edition, the Bergamo-based club still want €10 million to part company with the 32-year-old forward, a figure which Inter, who have been very strongly linked with signing Gomez along with teams like Fenerbahce, cannot currently afford.

Inter could only think about making a move for the Argentine in the event that they offload some players and the best exit for the Nerazzurri would be that of Christian Eriksen, although it is far from easy to sell the Danish midfielder in January.

If Eriksen did leave, Inter could sign Gomez and he would be a ‘precious’ player for head coach Antonio Conte, as he could provide intelligence, tactical options and unpredictability.

The report from the Milan-based news outlet does conclude by stating that Conte considers his Inter squad to be complete, but he certainly would not mind having Gomez, who has also been linked with Roma, Lazio and Juventus, in his side for the remainder of the season.
