Nicolo Barella wants to become an Inter legend like Javier Zanetti and Giacinto Facchetti, according to a report in Italy today.

Tuesday’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the midfielder’s performances for the Nerazzurri had earned him interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

However, the same report then went on to assure Inter supporters that Barella has no intention of leaving the club and wants to be a club icon for future generations.

The Italy international admired Dejan Stankovic as a child, having been raised in a family of Interisti in Sardinia, has been very clear with Inter that he sees his future in Milan.

Barella joined Inter in the summer of 2019 from fellow Serie A side Cagliari and is under contract until the end of the 2023/24 season.

He has made 25 appearances across all competitions to date this term for Antonio Conte’s side, who sit second in the standings behind AC Milan.

In his time on the pitch, which totals just over 1900 minutes, Barella has managed to score two goals and provide eight assists for his teammates.
