Inter CEO Marotta: “Our Transfer Market Closed, Things Said In Media Intended To Destabilize Us But That’s Impossible”

Inter CEO Beppe Marotta stopped by Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia as is traditional to give an update on all things Inter, ahead of kick-off at the Dacia Arena where Udinese host the Nerazzurri in Match Day 19 of the 2020/2021 Serie A season, witch kick-off scheduled for 18.00 CET.

The former Juventus director began by addressing the issue concerning reports in the Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport that Real Madrid and Inter had a conflict regarding the payment of Achraf Hakimi, something Real Madrid officially denied earlier today.

Marotta underlined that the club sees these reports as efforts to destabilize the club but that these efforts will fail as the club continues to work on the path it decided to without being affected by outside noise.

“In the past few weeks there have been a lot of stories published, some true and some nothing more than simple speculations to destabilize the club.

“That is not possible to do, because this is a strong club, the management guarantees unity and nobody can doubt the unity and the pride of this club.

The former Sampdoria director then addressed the transfer window stating that Inter’s transfer window is closed and that there is no need to respond to Scudetto rival AC Milan’s signings by investing in the squad.

“As I have said before, our transfer window is closed. We want to give the right level of consideration to our current group.

“We were looking around for opportunities, but there aren’t any, as we are going through a delicate moment for the club.

“We must therefore fill in the gaps with extraordinary values that we cannot buy on the market, and which are identity, love for the jersey and passion.”

Marotta was then asked about the future of Spezia loanee Lucien Agoume amid rumors that he could be called back but this was quickly ruled out.

“Matias Vecino has joined the squad for training this week and we hope he can act like a new signing after his injury.

“Agoume is a player born in 2002 who needs to play consistently. Taking him back to Inter now would be unfair to Spezia and difficult for him.”
