Inter and Roma’s hopes of swapping Alexis Sanchez and Edin Dzeko are fading fast, as per a report from a leading Italian journalist this afternoon.

Sky Sport Italia reporter and transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio said Roma were now of the opinion that the deal could not be completed under the conditions the clubs had discussed so far.

Inter must make an improved offer to the Giallorossi, who will need to pay the difference between Dzeko and Sanchez’s gross salaries for the swap to be possible, or talks will collapse definitively.

A report from Gazzetta dello Sport earlier today said the deal had already fallen through because the parties couldn’t find an agreement that satisfied both clubs in an economic sense.

There are only a few days left in the January transfer window and it now remains to be seen whether Inter will do anything or everything will stay as it is.

Antonio Conte’s side take on Benevento in Serie A tomorrow and it seems they will be continuing the campaign with Sanchez in their squad.
