Everton wanted to sign Ivan Perisic from Inter but there was no chance of them being able to sign him, according to an Italian broadcaster this afternoon.

As per Sky Sport Italia, the Premier League club were keen on adding the Croatian international to their ranks before tonight’s transfer deadline but will have to move on from him and look elsewhere.

Inter chief executive Beppe Marotta confirmed earlier on today that there would be no movement on either the incoming or outgoing front at Inter before 20:00 CET tonight.

Today’s deadline will mark an end of what has been a very uneventful months on the transfer front for the Nerazzurri, whose only transfer business was sending Radja Nainggolan out on loan to Cagliari at the start of the window.

Inter have been linked with no shortage of players but the club’s well-publicised liquidity issues have meant that no players have arrived.

Perisic played the full 90 minutes on Saturday as Antonio Conte’s side defeated Benevento 4-0 at San Siro.
