Inter’s Nicolo Barella After Fiorentina Win: “Best Period Of My Career, We’ve Found The Right Balance”

Nicolo Barella says he is enjoying the best form of his career after scoring again in Inter’s 2-0 victory at Fiorentina.

Barella produced the Nerazzurri’s opening goal as Antonio Conte’s side ran out comfortable winners at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Ivan Perisic also made the score-sheet in a match that took Inter, at least temporarily, top of the Serie A standings.

“We have found the right balance,” Barella told Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV following the match on Friday.

“I always do what the coach asks of me and do what it takes to help the team.

“If I need to make an extra run during a game, I will do it without any problems.”

Asked whether he thinks he is in the best form of his career, he responded: “I think so.

“I feel good, but I owe everything that happens to me to the team that puts me in a position to perform well.

“I thank the team for what we are doing and what we want to continue doing.”

This match was just the latest in a long line of impressive outings from the former Cagliari player, who Claudio Marchisio recently claimed is establishing himself as one of the best midfielders in Europe.

Barella then spoke on the chance he missed early on in Florence and pointed out what needs to be done in order to take a step forward as a player.

“I could have scored straight away, it’s true and to take a step forward you have to finish off certain moves,” he admitted modestly.

“The important thing is to win, no matter who the scorer is.”

In conclusion, the 23-year-old Italy international expressed his views on Inter and pointed out what they must do to get better.

“I think this team has great potential.

“We have shown it against Juventus in the league, against AC Milan in the Coppa Italia and on many other occasions.

“To take a step forward we need to improve and be more ruthless in front of goal, we are working on improving more and more.”

Inter will be back in action on Tuesday when they face Juve again in the second leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final, where they will bid to overturn a 2-1 deficit in Turin.
