Inter are interested in signing Sampdoria’s Mikkel Damsgaard but are not in pole position to land the highly-rated Denmark international, according to an Italian media report today.

As per Tuttosport’s print edition, the Nerazzurri have thought about signing Damsgaard who has impressed in his first season with Samp, but it is in fact Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur who are regarded as being in pole position for him.

The interest in the 20-year-old is not just limited to these clubs, with a report yesterday going so far as to claim that half of the Premier League are keen on signing Damsgaard.

Damsgaard joined his current employers in a €6 million deal from FC Norsdjaelland last summer and has been highly impressive for the Blucerchiati, where he might not be playing for much longer given the alleged great interest in his services.

In 22 appearances this season for Claudio Ranieri’s side, Damsgaard has scored two goals and provided four assists for his teammates.

He impressed during Samp’s 2-1 win over Inter last month, setting up former Nerazzurri forward Keita Balde to score in the first half with a fine slalom run down the right wing.
