Inter are unlikely to sign Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes anytime soon, according to an Italian media report today.

CalcioMercato.it claim the Nerazzurri and AC Milan both knocked back the chance to sign Guimaraes for €14-15 million a few years ago, considering the demands to be excessive.

The Brazilian would have not been against a move to Italy at that time, but a move to Serie A in the future, at least the immediate future, is very difficult to imagine, unless a club can reach an imaginative deal with Lyon or free up funds through player sales.

Atletico Madrid are also said to be courting Guimaraes, whose entourage Inter reportedly contacted recently.

Guimaraes has also attracted interest from several unnamed English clubs thanks to the contacts his agent Giuliano Bertolucci has at big Premier League sides.

The 23-year-old has scored one goal and provided two assists in 21 appearances this season, with Rudi Garcia’s side lying second in Ligue 1.
