Christian Eriksen is the current favourite to start Sunday’s Milan derby for Inter, according to a leading Italian broadcaster.

As per Sky Sport Italia, Arturo Vidal is hoping to make a partial return to first-team training tomorrow as he recovers from a knee injury.

The Chilean midfielder is training alone at Appiano Gentile today while the rest of Inter’s players enjoy a day off, with a view to starting against AC Milan.

But Eriksen remains in pole position to partner Marcelo Brozovic and Nicolo Barella as things stand.

Vidal has made 26 appearances in all competitions this season since his arrival from Barcelona during the summer transfer window, scoring twice and providing two assists.

The Nerazzurri were said by another report today to be cautiously optimistic of having the 33-year-old fit for the Derby della Madonnina.

Antonio Conte’s side are hoping to open up a four-point gap over their city rivals at the weekend after going top of Serie A on Sunday, following Inter’s 3-1 win at home to Lazio.
