Lautaro Martinez established himself as one of Europe’s great strikers during Inter’s derby triumph yesterday, according to an Italian media report.

El Toro opened the scoring inside five minutes at San Siro before finishing off a glorious team move at the start of the second half.

Antonio Conte’s side went on to record a famous 3-0 win which earned everyone high praise in today’s print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport.

“This was the day Lautaro stopped being a nice prospect and became a great player,” the Milanese paper argued, handing the 23-year-old a rating of 8.5/10 for his man-of-the-match display.

“It was a complete performance where the goals were just the tip of the iceberg.

“His desire to win the ball back and get involved in every phase of the game was striking.”

Romelu Lukaku and Samir Handanovic received the next highest ratings with 8/10, after the Belgian scored a terrific third goal to seal the points for the Nerazzurri.

Ivan Perisic also had high praise with a rating of 7.5/10, with five players – Milan Skriniar, Achraf Hakimi, Nicolo Barella, Marcelo Brozovic and Christian Eriksen – getting 7/10 for their performances against AC Milan.

Stefan de Vrij had 6.5/10 while Alessandro Bastoni received the lowest score with 6/10.
